In contrast, revascularizationof asymptomatic patients or patients with low-risk findingson noninvasive testing and minimal medical therapy areviewed less favorably. The technical panel felt that based onrecent studies, coronary artery bypass grafting remains anappropriate method of revascularization for patients withhigh burden of coronary artery disease （CAD）。 Addition-ally, percutaneous coronary intervention may have a role inrevascularization of patients with high burden of CAD. Theprimary objective of the appropriate use criteria is toimprove physician decision making and patient educationregarding expected benefits from revascularization and toguide future research.
